Should we have an open book examination?

1. Kenapa student suka meniru? Satu masalah yg selalu menjadikan kepala otak pensyarah pening.
2. Bermacam macam cara meniru yg telah saya jumpa dan berjaya di patahkan.
3. Ada yg simpan nota dalam baju, handphone dan ada yg paling jijik simpan nota di tandas.
4. Saya cuba untuk mengubah sistem yg sedia ada by adapting new method of assesment yang sudah popular di negara barat.
5. Open book test, case study dan online test adalah beberapa cara yg telah digunapakai oleh diri saya and other lecturers dan hasilnya amat menakjubkan. Why?
6. The new system allowed the lecturer to ask simple but yet constructive questions. Soalan berbentuk problem solving, perceive value dan penyelesaian masalah secara synthesis dapat di gunakan in class exam.
7. Does the student like it? NO is the answer. WHY? The cant cheat anymore. Everything in their notes cant help them in answering the question. It can only help them with the fact but not the personal perception and ability to discuss on the issues given.
8. It certainly help to reduce the PROBLEM and inflate the student participation in the class. Furthermore, the usage of open book test will help the faculty to achieve the outcome based education (OBE) policy and needs.
9. However, question in the open book test shouldnt be straight foward and need to achieved certain level of difficulity in cognitive and affective domain of bloom taxonomy.
10. Hopefully, the copycat problem could be dissolve and effectiveness of tertiary education in answering the demand by the industry stakeholder could be increased.
